Patuxent Seafood Co. takes pride on having the highest quality of fresh seafood available.

All of our seafood is harvested from the beautiful and historical Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay.

Our farm-raised oysters have a unique flavor that only the water in the middle Patuxent River can create; mild salty-sweetness with a blend of flavorful vegetation.  They are farmed year-round using a proven aquaculture method of raised cages on the river bottom and are harvested year-round by following strict HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) regulations and frequent testing to ensure safe  consumption even in summer months.  Unlike wild-harvested oysters, farmed oysters are continuously nurtured to ensure not only a beautiful symmetrical shape but also a deep cup for a deliciously meaty oyster.  These oysters are perfectly suited for the half-shell market, oyster bars, restaurants and, of course, home consumption.  Generally, the meat of a farm-raised oyster is twice the size of a wild-harvest oyster with the same shell size.  (See images below.  The photo on the right shows a comparison of wild vs. farm-raised.  Wild is on the left and farmed is on the right.)

Our family likes to prepare food quickly and we're guessing a lot of our customers feel the same, therefore, our farm-raised oysters are cleaned using a light pressure washer prior to each sale or delivery.

Our Wild Harvested oysters come from the Patuxent River, close to the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, and have a bit saltier taste than the Farm-Raised oysters.  While we don't clean these oysters, we think you'll find them equally delicious.

Hearty, live blue crabs are caught on a trotline in the Patuxent River and are sold fresh daily during summer months only.
